Kohima, August 1 (MExN): The Leiriechazou Panchayat on Saturday issued a final warning to shop owners operating without valid trade licences or selling expired food items after a surprise inspection in its jurisdiction under Ward No. 16 of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC).
The inspection was carried out on the directive of the KMC councillor of Ward No. 16 and involved members of the Leiriechazou Panchayat, colony youth and women organisations, and the village GB.
During the inspection, the team found that several shops were operating without trade licences, prompting the Panchayat to direct the owners to comply with KMC rules and regulations.
The inspection team also seized expired food items from shops, which were later disposed of in a responsible manner.
The Panchayat said it had issued a final warning to traders, stating that failure to update or renew trade licences or the sale of expired products in future would result in permanent cancellation of business permits within the colony.
