MoU signed between IIBM and NERIM Guwahati

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 22 (MExN): The Indian Institute of Bank Management (IIBM), Guwahati and the North Eastern Regional Institute of Management (NERIM) has signed a MoU for a period of three years to impart training programmes to the students of NERIM. 

As a part of MOU, IIBM, Guwahati launched a three-month skill development programme on September 15 last in its office premises in presence of the Chairman of NERIM Group of Institutions, Dr Zoii Nath Sarmah and Eugene E Karthak, Director IIBM, Prof Abhijit Sharma of IIBM, Dr Karabi Goswami, HoD, Management, NERIM, faculty members from NERIM and IIBM and also students of MBA from NERIM. 

In his welcome address, Karthak stated that IIBM is keen to partner with NERIM and give their students an opportunity to get in the RBI, NABARD, other public sector banks by going through a rigorous course which would help them to pass the exams conducted by the various public sector financial institutions successfully. 

He further stated that this is a first of its kind initiative undertaken for the students of the NER and would be scaled up based on its success. He urged the students to put in their best efforts and wished them all luck for their success. NERIM Group of Institutions chairman, Dr. Zoii Nath Sarmah expressed hope that the training programme will help the students get employment avenues in various banks- both public and private sector. Dr Sarmah added that the main objective of MoU is to establish a partnership for training students from NERIM initially under a three-month course for providing skill-based training as per the course curriculum. 

Mention may be made that the IIBM, Guwahati is an autonomous institution sponsored by RBI, NABARD, SBI, UCO Bank, Central Bank of India, Union Bank of India and Indian Bank. On the other hand, NERIM is one of the oldest private sector educational institutes in North-east Region, which is affiliated to three leading Universities of the North East, Guwahati, Dibrugarh and ASTU.
