Shokhuvi, April 9 (MExN): An attestation parade of 120 recruits was conducted at the parade ground of the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School at Shokhuvi in Nagaland on April 9.
An update received here sated that the parade marked the culmination of 44 weeks of rigorous recruit training during which “young and dynamic recruits were transformed into physically fit, mentally robust and professionally competent soldiers of the Assam Rifles who have been imparted gruelling training in battle craft, weapon handling, jungle lane shooting and specialization in Counter Insurgency operations.”
This attestation parade was unique for the fact that it had not only 88 male recruits but also 32 female recruits of General Duty Trade, it stated.
The parade was led by Maj Rishabh Rana, an officer who is posted as Training Officer at the ARTC&S. The attestation parade was reviewed by the Brigadier Raman Sharma, Sena Medal Commandant Assam Rifles Training Centre and Schoolin the presence of Colonel Rajiv Chaudhary, Bar to Sena Medal, Deputy Commandant Assam Rifles Training Centre and School and other senior officers of the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles.
Attestation is a ceremony in which the recruits take the oath of allegiance in the presence of the National Flag, the Assam Rifles Regimental Flag and religious holy books in an impressive ceremony marked by immaculate turnout and drill.
Addressing the recruits, the Reviewing Officer highlighted the rich history and legacy of the Assam Rifles as the oldest paramilitary force of the country.He mentioned that Assam Rifles is responsible for Border Security, Counter Insurgency and maintaininglaw and order in Northeast India.
He also stressed upon the importance of discipline and physical fitness in a soldier’s life. He exuded confidence in the training conducted at the Training Centre which he expressed would stand the young soldiers in good stead before wishing them the very best in their future assignments.In the end, he congratulated them and their proud parents on successful completion of their training and wished them success and happiness in all their future endeavours.
‘The newly passed out Rifleman will now join their respective units in all frontline duties and continue to serve the country thereby making it a moment of glory not only for the Assam Rifles but also for the entire nation,’ it added.
After the passing out parade, the Reviewing Officer met the Overall Best Male Recruit Rohit Singh Bisht and Overall Best Female Recruit Sunam Kumari Shaw.
