Nagaland: 133 new COVID cases, 10 new deaths

DIMAPUR, MAY 10 (MExN): 133 new cases of COVID-19 were reported out of 522 test samples received today in Nagaland. 10 new deaths were also reported in the State, taking the death toll due to COVID-19 to 140. 

The new cases include 88 from Dimapur, 13 from Kohima, 9 from Kiphire, 7 from Zunheboto, 5 from Mokokchung, 4 from Peren, 3 each from Mon and Tuensang, and 1 from Wokha. They comprise of 102 who underwent self testing or were part of random testing, 23 traced contacts, 5 returnees/travelers, 2 from the armed forces/security personnel, and 1 frontline worker.  

Meanwhile, 47 new patients have recovered from the infection. The new recoveries include 38 from Dimapur, 3 each from Mokokchung and Wokha, 2 from Tuensang, and 1 from Peren.

The total caseload of the State is now 16,283. A total of 12,734 people have recovered from the infection and there are now 2,884 active cases in the State. 

Of the active cases in the State, 2,586 are asymptomatic, 153 have mild symptoms, 52 have moderate symptoms requiring oxygen, and 78 people have severe symptoms requiring oxygen. Further, there are 15 people in ICU, of which 11 are on ventilators. 10 of the patients on ventilators are from Dimapur, while 1 is from Kohima. 

Among the deaths, 99 have been reported from Dimapur, 26 from Kohima, 6 from Mokokchung, 2 each from Mon, Tuensang and Zunheboto, and 1 each from Kiphire, Phek and Wokha.
