Nagaland: 59 out of 60 legislators cast vote for Presidential Elections

Legislators of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) today cast their vote for the Presidential Elections 2022 at the NLA Secretariat, Kohima.

Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change YM Yollow Konyak could not take part in the election due to health issues, according to Khrouhituonuo Rio, Additional Secretary NLA and Assistant Returning Officer for the Presidential Elections.

The Presidential Election was conducted successfully from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM with Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, UDA Chairperson TR Zeliang and 57 other legislators casting their vote, she said.

Meanwhile, counting of votes will take place at Parliament House in New Delhi on July 21 and the next President will take oath on July 25.

The vote value of each MLA in Nagaland is 9 and the combined total of all 60 votes is 540. The value of the vote for Nagaland’s two MPs is 1400 (700 each).
