DIMAPUR, JUNE 8 (MExN): The BJP Nagaland State has informed its party workers that it will field party candidate for the 2024 Municipal and Town Council elections on the following basis.
The party will nominate candidates in all wards of Municipal and Town councils that are within the 12 Assembly Constituencies where the BJP currently has sitting MLAs. It will not field candidates in Municipal and Town Council wards that fall under the 25 Assembly Constituencies represented by the NDPP and vice versa, BJP Nagaland state president Benjamin Yepthomi said.
In the 23 Assembly Constituencies not represented by either the BJP or the NDPP, the party will field candidates in those Municipal and Town Council wards, ensuring a friendly contest.
Wherever possible, the BJP and the NDPP through mutual understanding will work to accommodate seats for each other taking the ability of the candidate to win into account. The decision has been taken following wide consultation with its alliance partner the NDPP in the greater and common interest of the People’s Democratic Alliance, the BJP Nagaland president stated.
