Department highlights financial and manpower constraints
Kohima, July 6 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav, chaired a review meeting with the Department of Women Resource Development (DWRD) at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on July 6.
The Governor reviewed major programmes being implemented by the Department, including the Transformative Livelihood Intervention (TLI) Project, Protection and Promotion of Tribal Designs, Myki activities, Multi Training Centre, Integrated Development-cum-Resource Centre (IDRC), District Resource and Development Programme (DRDP) and various entrepreneurship and skill development initiatives benefiting women across Nagaland.
The Department also briefed the Governor on the proposed Myki Hub at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, which aims to provide permanent market avenues for women entrepreneurs, artisans and farmers while promoting traditional and contemporary products. The project, supported under the Chief Minister's Innovative Programme Fund, is expected to be completed by November 2026, stated PRO Lok Bhavan Nagaland in a press release.

The meeting further reviewed the construction of Working Women Hostels in various districts under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) initiative, as well as ongoing efforts to expand women resource centres, strengthen livelihood interventions and enhance market linkages for women entrepreneurs.
The Department highlighted the challenges of limited financial resources and manpower while emphasizing the need for greater support to expand programmes aimed at improving the livelihoods of women throughout the State.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of the Department in empowering women through skill development, entrepreneurship promotion and livelihood generation. He encouraged the Department to strengthen convergence with other departments and stakeholders, ensure effective implementation of its programmes and continue working towards creating sustainable economic opportunities for women across Nagaland.
