Nagaland hosts 27 youths from Bihar for cultural exchange

27 Youths from 5 districts of Bihar who participated in the Inter State Youth Exchange Programme (ISYEP) or Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat in Nagaland, in Kohima were distributed certificates of completion during a culmination programme organized in Kohima today by My Bharat, Nerhu Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Nagaland. 

The programme began on January 27. 

On January 29, officials from NYKS, Nagaland informed that the youths were taken to Khonoma Village and Dzüleke. The youths got the opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage and interact with locals in the village.To enable them to learn about their culture, local food items were prepared and games were organized. 

The Volunteers had Introduction time and undertook walk to GH Dhamant memorial, Merhiima fort, Semoma fort, the strongest fort during the British rule, Hiekha Kikie Heritage site, Dovipie INN and visited Dzüleke. 

On January 30, the team visited places like Cathedral of Kohima, War cemetery, and visited the local market and interacted with local vendors. 

The aim of the visit was to showcase heritage sites and the local food items and local products of the state to the visiting team. 
The youths from Bihar also presented cultural items during the culmination session. 

As part of the nationwide programme, the ISYEP has been initiated by Prime Minister on October 31, 2015 on the occasion of the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. 

The aims of the programme is to celebrate the unity in Diversity of our Nation; to promote the spirit of National Integration through a deep and structured engagement between all Indian States & Union Territories through a year long planned engagement between States; to showcase the rich heritage and culture, customs and traditions of either state and to create an environment which promotes learning between states by sharing best practices and experiences.
