Nagaland Lokayukta dismisses probe against Deputy CM Patton

Kohima, September 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Lokayukta on Friday passed an order dismissing the complaint filed against Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton by one Vicca S Aye, on grounds that the complaint was “found to be devoid of substance in the absence of any prima facie evidence.”

The matter pertains to a “preliminary enquiry” that was ordered by the Lokayukta earlier on February 20, after Aye lodged a complaint against the Deputy CM.

Among others, Aye alleged that the Dy CM had indulged in “rampant abuse of administrative discretion and favouritism and interfered in the normal administrative functioning of the police department,” and that Patton “proposed and offered to the candidates who qualify the written exams of NPSC to approach him for help at the interview stage.”

A copy of the order which was issued to the media on September 19 stated that “the complaint has been submitted in haste with deficient facts,” and that the Lokayukta “is not supposed to indulge in roving enquiry with a view to fish out materials and evidence to prove non-specific, bald and ominous allegations made in the complaint.”

The complaint deserves to be rejected and is accordingly dismissed, the order stated.
