SDEO Niuland in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education (DoSE), Kohima & Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland organised a district level student’s science fair for schools under the district. Seminar Competition under the theme ‘Millets-A super food or a Diet Fad’ and an exhibition competition under the theme ‘science & technology’ were held at SDEO Niuland on August 29. SDEO Niuland (DEO Charge) Erali Swu delivered the keynote address. The 1st position of seminar competition was bagged by Vilotoli Yeptho of St Joseph Viyito while the exhibition competition was bagged by Rick Chetri & Tovi Assumi of Central Academy Kuhuboto. The winners in both the competitions will represent Niuland district at the State Level Science Fair. 
Under the direction of NCORD Wokha, a joint inspection of pharmacies under Wokha district was conducted by a team comprising of members from District Administration, Police and Drugs control Officer Wokha to verify the installation of CCTV in Wokha town on September 1. The Administration has issued direction for compulsory installation of CCTV at all the pharmacies to prevent sale of illegal pharmaceutical drugs particularly to children under Sec 133 of CRPC. It was found out that except two pharmacies all other pharmacies have complied with the order. Warning has been issued to the defaulters for urgent installation, failing which action shall be initiated as per relevant section of Law. (DIPR Photo)
The Department of Social Welfare, Nagaland conducted two-day Induction Training Programme for Untrained Anganwadi Workers under Kohima and Tseminyu districts on August 31 and September 1. A total number of 74 anganwadi workers were given training on different relevant topics for smooth functioning of the activities at the Anganwadi Centers. This Induction Training Programme will be conducted at all the Districts of Nagaland in Phase-Wise manner.
The District Education Officer, Dimapur organised the District Level Science Seminar and Exhibition (Individual and Group Category) at Bethesda HSS, Dimapur on August 30. The Science Seminar was won by Rimi Basumatary of Bethesda HSS; Science Exhibition (individual category) winner was Aruve DVadeo of MGM HSS and Science Exhibition (Group Category) winners were Julita Brjo and Limtsumong of GHSS, School Purana Bazar. 
District Administration Noklak, in collaboration with AISECT Nagaland, inaugurated a one-month training course on tailoring and electrical trades on September 1. The programme was launched at a brief ceremony held at Model School Danlepdong ward, Noklak Town. Vikhoto Richa, SDO(C) Noklak, encouraged the trainees to wholeheartedly engage in the training, emphasizing the importance of the skills they would acquire. He highlighted that these valuable skills would not only bridge existing gaps in the district but also provide them with opportunities to earn a livelihood. (DIPR Photo)
District-Level Science Fair, 2023 was conducted at auditorium GHSS Tuensang with SP Tuensang, Kanchan Kumar Kanpal, IPS as the chief guest on August 30. A seminar on ‘Millet- A super food or a Diet Fad’ and exhibition on ‘Science and Technology’ were conducted during the event. Tonchingkhumla of Wela Foundation School and Peshie H of St John HSS were adjudged the winner of the seminar. The winner of the exhibition single category was M Yemkhiung of St John HSS and the winner of exhibition group category was Lychia Chang and Ngakusipong of Wela foundation school. Advisor IT&C, H Sethrongkyu Sangtam and Er Tongtiliba Longkumer delivered speech. Er Chura Katiry highlighted the recognition received during Er TongtilibaLongkumer’s tenure, including the CSI-Nihilent Award 2017 as the Best Performing State in the Northeast Region in e-Governance, the Northeast Tech Sabha - Enterprise Application Award by Indian Express Group 2018, and top rankings in the National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment and State Portal Accessibility categories among North Eastern and Hill States. Assam Rifles along with local volunteers from Pokhpur village cleared two major and multiple minor landslides and undertook road maintenance over a 26 km stretch from Kiusum Junction to Thongsonyu village in Indo-Myanmar border area. The AR in an update stated that due to incessant rains and landslides, the vital line of communication between border village Thongsonyu and Kiusum had been blocked.
