In view of the celebration of the 25th Edition of Hornbill Festival 2024, the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland initiated a Homestay Operator Training programme to reskill, improve services and create professionalism in the hospitality sector while attending the guest mainly on serving and dining etiquettes, housekeeping and hygiene. The training was conducted with the department’s training and knowledge partner Vernajyoti Educare from Kolkata. It was held from May 13 to 22 with two days at Pfutsero and seven days at Kohima. It comprised of Classroom learning held at Conference Hall Directorate of Tourism and Industrial training at the Heritage DC Bungalow.
Assam Rifles conducted a donation drive under the theme ‘Compassion in Action’ in Shalom Children’s Home in Kiphire District on May 21. Assam rifles donated new and gently used clothes that include 20 T-Shirt, 20 Shorts/Lower, 30 different type books including Comics and Magazines and other materialistic items.
A friendly medical and dental camp under ‘spreading smiles across border’ initiative was organised by Assam Rifles on May 23. Villagers from both sides of the border, including Indian residents of the Dan and Pangsha ranges, and Myanmar residents of Ponyo, Tsawlaw, and Kimphu benefited from the camp. Total of 138 individuals were treated during the camp.
The Department of Environmental Science, Sao Chang College commemorated International Biodiversity Day on the theme “Be Part of the Plan” at Mount Carmel School, Tuensang on May 22. A total of 45 participants, including faculty members and students from classes 6 and 7, took part in the event. Krishi Vigyan Kendra Tuensang sponsored the Pine saplings and Sao Chang College RUSA (Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) provided flower saplings, prepared by the 6th batch of floriculture students. The departments of Botany and Zoology of Sao Chang College also observed the International Day for Biodiversity 2024 at Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), Tuensang. Altogether 71 students and staff of EMRS along with the Science faculties of SCC participated in the program.
A seminar on new subsidy policy - Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialization Scheme UNNATI 2024 was conducted on May 22 to sensitize the district officers at the Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Kohima. The programme was chaired by Addl Director of Industries & Commerce, Er Lipongse Thongtsar.
