Hero Indian Super League club NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) is reportedly set to rope in James Kithan this transfer window.

The 25-year old Goalkeeper from Nagaland had joined Churchill Brothers FC Goa in 2017 on a free transfer. However, his contract expired on May 2020.

Another goalkeeper,  Ubaid CK from Gokulam Kerala FC is also being scouted by NEUFC.

While talks are still on, the transfer market has rated the probability of Kithan's signing as 75%.

Speaking to The Morung Express, James Kithan said he would be happy to have an opportunity to play for a big club like NEUFC.

Kithan's agent and NEUFC are currently in talks for an agreement, according to other reports.

The contract has not yet been finalized, but fans are already buzzing with excitement.

"James is young and has a long career stint. His signing for NE United will definitely be a big booster for upcoming local footballers and it will be a motivational factor," said Bokti, an avid member of the Highlanders brigade.

"It's good to have local lads in the big clubs.  Having James would help build NE United's bond with the fan base in the Northeast even more," said Avei.

"I'm so excited to hear the news.  I hope NEUFC makes it happen!" shared another fan from Dimapur.

Kithan made a total of 8 appearances in the I-League for Churchill Brothers in the 2019/20 season. He put in a Hero of the Match performance against NEROCA FC in February 2020.

According to transfermarkt, an online news portal dealing with such matters, Kithan’s current market value is esitamted to be Rs 8.33 million.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) recently announced that the summer transfer window would be open from August 1 to October 20, 2020.
