NBSE files FIR after suspected Cl 9 science question paper leak

The question paper for one subject of the Class-IX examination 2023, conducted by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), was reportedly leaked. According to the police, it received a First Information Report (FIR) from the NBSE Secretary on December 4 informing of a suspected leaking of the science subject question paper for the Class IX Phase-II examination, which is currently on. 

On December 5, the police said that it was still to register the complaint pending the completion of preliminary inquiry. 

The NBSE, in the FIR, said that it was informed of the alleged leak by the principal of a school in Dimapur after the conclusion of the science subject examination on Monday at around 11:00 am. As per the FIR, the leak originated from a phone number in Chümoukedima. It spelled out the protocol for handing out question papers via the NBSE portal, stating that “the protected password is given to the school heads a day ahead of the examination. 

The NBSE, meanwhile, maintained that the alleged leak was still to be established. Chairperson, Asano Sekhose told The Morung Express that the initial information came from students. According to her, a group of students told their principal, who informed the NBSE.  The police investigation will take its own course, meanwhile, the examination will continue as scheduled, Sekhose said. The examination for mathematics is on December 5.
