NBSE on registration of educational institutions

Kohima, April 12 (DIPR): In the interest of the public and the educational institutions, the Nagaland Board of School Education Kohima has notified the following on 14th March 2011:

A. (i)    An individual or a trust desiring to start an educational institution shall first seek prior permission from the concerned authority.
(ii)    Any one starting an institution without prior permission of the concerned authority is doing so at their own risk as the students from such institutions shall not be allowed to appear at any of the Board’s examinations nor shall they be allowed to be admitted in any of the registered schools of the Department. The Department shall not be responsible for the damage done to the academic career of the students from such institutions.
(iii)    The authority to grant approval/permission for upgradation of schools at different stages are:
1.    Permission for opening new institutions and granting of recognition for primary and elementary sections.’ - Directorate of School Education, Nagaland, Kohima.
2.    Upgradation to Secondary level (classes 9, 10, 11 & 12) for government schools - Directorate of School Education, Nagaland, Kohima
3.    Permission and recognition for secondary level (classes 9, 10, 11 & 12) for private schools - Secretary Nagaland Board of School Education, Kohima (for further information, refer general Rules)
Application for opening of schools, upgradation of schools and recognition of schools should be submitted at least (eight) months ahead of the academic session to the concerned
authority.
(iv) The authority to accord approval of name or transfer of ownership of the school is the State Education Committee, (arrangement should be made so that change or transfer is effective from the beginning of an academic year).
B.    Schools running upto a particular stage shall not add additional classes beyond that stage without prior permissions from the appropriate authority. For instance, a government middle school shall not add class 9 and above without the approval of the Director of School Education and a private middle school shall not add class 9 and above without the prior permission of the Board.
Any school adding additional classes without the specific order of the concerned authority shall be doing so at their own risk, as these students shall not be allowed to appear at the Board’s examinations.

C.     The jurisdiction of the Nagaland Board of School Education is the State of Nagaland only.
Any institution outside the state of Nagaland claiming to be under the Nagaland Board of School Education is false. Students seeking admission in such institutions are doing so at their own risk, as they shall not be allowed to appear any examination under this Board.

D. (i)    Selection test for HSLC Examination shall be conducted for students of registered permitted schools only.
(ii)    The candidature of a student for the Board’s examinations are based on the enrolment as on 1st April for classes 9 and 10 and 1st June for classes 11 and 12.
(iii)    A student intending to appear class 9 Promotion Examination or at the HSLC Examination must produce his/her registration number/pass
certificate.

E.    District Education Officer shall not grant permission to students from schools, which are not registered with the School Education Department to sit for class 9 Promotion Examination nor the Selection Test of HSLC Examination.
