Kohima, March 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) on Thursday held a meeting with the newly appointed head of institutions in the Platinum Hall of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), Kohima. The meeting was attended by heads of institutions representing 160 schools from all the 16 districts of Nagaland.

Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, Secretary, NBSE said that the meeting with the newly appointed head of institutions was an annual activity of the NBSE. He said that meeting with the heads has also become important with the introduction of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

In keynote address, NBSE chairperson  Asano Sekhose said that the school head plays a very important role in the school and he/she must be eager to learn and keep up the performance of the schools not only academic performance but to do it differently as per the goals of education in line with the NEP 2020.

She said that education for 21st Century aims to translate and enable students to become lifelong learners, instill in students desire to learn, unlearn and relearn. She also reminded the heads of institutions about the importance of understanding the need of competency based education and the need to emphasize on what the learners are expected to learn.

Dr Bendangla, Associate Professor, SCTE, Kohima was the resource person at the meeting. She shared on the topic - Role and Responsibilities of the Head of Institutions in the implementation of NEP 2020.

She dwelt on the Roles and Responsibilities of the Heads of Institutions such as curriculum Reforms, Community Engagement, collaboration and communication, Infrastructure and facilities, Assessment, Autonomy and Accountability, strategic planning, Technological literacy and Integration.

Inclusivity, Sustainability Education, Adaptability, Vision-Setting, Teacher Development, Problem solving, Learning Committees and School leadership are some of the roles and responsibilities, she discussed.

The 2nd session of the day started with the presentation of IT matters by chief coordinator IT, NBSE.

He highlighted on different IT matters of the Board such as the different whatsApp group; district-wise, centre Superintendent, Financial Literacy Groups, NBSE portal, data collection software, social media (Facebook/Twitter) and different IT interventions that is taking place in the Board.

Iluheing Nsarangbe, Joint Secretary (Academic), NBSE, dwelt on the activities and initiatives related to academic and examination matters particularly keeping in mind the linkage with NEP 2020.
