NCD, WC NNPGs lauds SC Jamir’s achievement

Dimapur, November 10 (MExN): The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) and the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (WC, NNPG) today feted Dr SC Jamir on being conferred Padma  Bhushan,  the third highest civilian award in India  on November 8. 

In a congratulatory message issued by its President Etsungmomo Kikon, the NCD said that it is proud of Dr Jamir’s achievement and wished him good health, wisdom and longevity.

Further, the NCD also expressed deep appreciation and support shown by tribal presidents and various civil society organisations under the banner of NCD during the civic reception to honour Dr Jamir at Airport Dimapur on November 10. 

While “wholeheartedly” feting Dr Jamir on his achievement, WC, NNPG stated that it was “indeed a proud moment for the Nagas in general and Nagaland state in particular, that a veteran politician and a statesman from our own Naga community is being recognised and honoured with the  highest civilian award of the country.”

He genuinely deserves to be honoured and dignified for his lifetime of selfless sacrifices and exceptional services rendered to the Nagas and the Indian country, the WC, NNPG maintained in a press release from its Media Cell. 

“Since the formation of the Nagaland statehood hitherto, he has been instrumental in nurturing and taking forward the state of Nagaland putting his life in line for several decades, it said, adding that Dr “never lose sight of the vision for our people” during the tumultuous years of strife and political conflict and demonstrated “courage, grit ,political acumen and true statesmanship.”

“We pray for his long exalted life and his enduring wisdom to guide the state and the people to a new era of peace and prosperity,” it added.
