NFR & Cotton University sign MoU

Maligaon, June 5 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) celebrated World Environment Day 2025 at Rang Bhawan, Maligaon with the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ on June 5.

The event commenced with lighting of lamp by Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NFR along with Shalini Shrivastava, President of Northeast Frontier Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (NFRWWO).

A major highlight was signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NFR and Cotton University to foster collaborative research on environmental Conservation, stated a press release issued by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.

Along with the General Manager, senior officials from NFR Headquarters also attended the event. Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) and other divisional officers participated virtually from their respective locations.

During the signing of MoU, NFR was represented by M Kalimuthu, Chief Mechanical Engineer (Environment & Health Management) and Cotton University, Guwahati represented by Dr Arindam Garg, Registrar.

A guest lecture was delivered by Ajay Singh, Retired Chief Mechanical Engineer of South Western Railway. 

A short film showcased NFR’s ongoing initiatives eliminating plastic water bottles, installing refillable water stations at key locations and adopting biodegradable alternatives in catering services. Environmental Booklet highlighting NFR’s plastic-reduction strategies, recycling partnerships and green success stories was also released.
