NFR GM inspects ongoing works at New Jalpaiguri station

Maligaon, August 28 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (Construction) General Manager Ashish Bansal on August 27 inspected the ongoing upgradation and redevelopment works at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station.

Bansal was accompanied by senior officials from NFR headquarters (Construction) and the concerned divisional authorities, an official release said.

During the inspection on August 27, he reviewed the progress of various infrastructure and passenger amenity works being undertaken to transform the station into a modern and passenger-friendly facility.

The key components reviewed included the arrival terminal buildings, departure terminal, elevated road, podium parking facilities, air concourse, new foot overbridges (FOBs), platform development, surface roads and other associated passenger amenities.

The redevelopment plan also includes improved vehicular circulation, dedicated parking facilities, pedestrian drop-off areas and enhanced connectivity between different station facilities, the release said.

Bansal took stock of the progress at different locations and stressed the need for close monitoring, coordination and timely completion of the project while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The concerned officials and executing agencies were directed to expedite the ongoing works and adhere to the targeted completion schedules.

The redevelopment of New Jalpaiguri Junction, under the Katihar Division of NFR, is aimed at improving passenger convenience, accessibility and overall station facilities.

The project is expected to provide modern infrastructure and enhanced passenger amenities and strengthen New Jalpaiguri’s role as an important railway gateway to North Bengal and the Northeast.
