NMA urges political party leaders to encourage women candidates

Kohima, January 27 (MExN):  The Naga Mothers' Association (NMA) has asked political party leaders in the State to encourage women candidates.  “As a body that has stood for the rights of women including political empowerment,” the NMA appealed to various Political Party top leaders in the state to ensure that space is created for encouraging women candidates to contest in the coming general elections by issuing them their political party tickets. “This is a time for political parties to prove their manifestos of gender equality and women empowerment. We are well aware of some of our best women candidates who are ready and trying to get party tickets for this election,” stated NMA in a press release received here. There cannot be a better time to give Naga women the opportunity to contest and represent us in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, it stated and wished them the best while hoping that they are elected in a free and fair manner.
