DIMAPUR, JUNE 5 (MExN): The Nagaland Medical Council (NMC) today expressed appreciation to all frontline workers and encouraged its members to live up to one’s calling.
“During such time of crisis, it is highly unethical for any health professional to shy away from their responsibilities and resign from their assigned posts,” stated a press release from the NMC.
It noted that across the world, the fear of this highly contagious disease is “slowly turning from fear to acceptance.”
“Though our resources available are far from desirable, what we need to do now is to have a clear focus and planning on how to make the best use of the existing infrastructure and manpower. To overcome this pandemic, we need greater resolve and good work ethics,” the NMC stated.
It challenged all to “turn from fear to acceptance and follow the universal protection of social distancing, wearing a mask and hand hygiene.”
It meanwhile said that the response to this pandemic in Nagaland has been “commendable though not without hiccups.”
The council however noted that many health professionals have responded to the challenge of this pandemic by offering their services voluntarily, including senior medical professionals. The NMC took upon itself the responsibility to organise Out Patient consultative services in the districts where professional health volunteers were available. This is being done to support the Department of Health & Family Welfare who are totally engaged in the revamping and setting up infrastructure in various health centers in the State.
The NMC also appreciated the State’s Health Department for efficiently involving in establishment of Covid Hospitals in all districts; establishment of COVID Care Centre for isolating and segregating COVID positive people; full involvement in the establishment and maintenance of Quarantine Centres; and contact tracking through mobile applications.
