NWU condemns 'inhumane' police's action Kohima, June 13 (MExN): The Naga Women's Union (NWU) vehemently condemned the 'brutal act' of the Manipur Rifles and the Delhi Police on the tribal students of Manipur during a peaceful protest programme against the three infamous Anti Tribal Bills outside the Manipur Bhawan, New Delhi on June 7. NWU denounces any form of violence and strongly condemned the inhumane action meted out to already victimised tribal people of Manipur particularly womenfolk who were "molested, indiscriminately thrashed, beaten, kicked and detaining them overnight in the police station," the union saisd in a press statment.  "The act of mercilessly dragging out the badly injured protesters by the so call security forces even from the hospital is inhumane and barbaric which is not practice even in a war situation" it added. "This is a gross violation of human rights unprecedented in nature wherein the custodian of law in a democratic country behaves like vengeful savages."   NWU urged the concern authority to investigate the matter and award befitting punishment to the culprits so that such acts by the security forces are not repeated in future. NWU also wished speedy recoveries to those injured persons police's action.  

School principal arrested for raping minor Agartala, June 13 (IANS): The principal of a primary school in Tripura has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl student, police said here on Monday. The accused, 36, is a principal of a private school in Kanchanpur and allegedly raped the nine-year-old girl student several times at his residence in the school complex since October last year, police spokesman Uttam Kumar Bhowmik said. "The girl's mother on Sunday filed an FIR against him," Bhowmik added. "According to the girl's mother, the accused also showed her daughter nude and offensive videos," he added. Recently, when the girl came home, she disclosed these horrific incidents to her parents and was reluctant to return to school. The accused principal is a resident of Karnataka.  Police are probing the incident.   Temporary transgression by Chinese soldiers Itanagar, Jun 13 (PTI): In yet another incident of Chinese incursion, about 250 Chinas Peoples Liberation Army soldiers entered Arunachal Pradeshs east district of Kameng four days ago, defence sources said today. The "temporary transgression" by the Chinese patrolling party happened in Yangste, East kameng district on June 9, they said. However, the soldiers went back within hours, they added. This is the first known transgression by the Chinese army this year in the region, which China claims is part of its territory. The Chinese troops spent about three hours on this side of the border before going back to their territory, the sources said.   IPFT demand for statehood rejected Agartala, June 13 (PTI): All the major political parties in Tripura rejected the demand for a separate state,Twipra land raised by Indigenous People?s Front of Twipra (IPFT), a tribal-based party. Secretary of the state Committee of ruling CPI-M, Bijan Dhar today said, "we oppose this demand because it is divisive, irresponsible and politically motivated. This demand for Twipra Land is aimed at creating a separate state by dividing the small Tripura state, which would increase the sufferings of the people." The IPFT, in a statement earlier, called for blockade of the Assam-Agartala National Highway on June 22 for 24 hours to press for their demand. The IPFT demanded to carve out the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), home to the tribals, who constitute one-third of the state population and occupy two-third of the state territory to form the new state.
