Tseminyu, July 19 (MExN): The Naga People's Front (NPF) Tseminyu Division has reiterated its demand for an early, honourable, acceptable and inclusive solution to the long-pending Naga political issue, while adopting resolutions to strengthen party discipline ahead of the next Assembly elections.
The resolutions were adopted during a Party Leaders Meet held at Tseminyu Town Hall on July 18, according to a release issued by the NPF Tseminyu Division.
The meeting, chaired by John Wanth, Associate Press Secretary of the party's Central Press Bureau, began with a welcome address by Piekie Kath, General Secretary and COB Assistant In-charge of the Tseminyu Division.
Delivering the introductory note, Benjamin Lorin, Vice President and COB In-charge of the division, said the NPF remained committed to the principles of regionalism and called for unwavering support to the party to address Tseminyu district's developmental challenges. He also advocated greater representation of women in local governance.
Former minister and Core Committee member R Khing said regional parties had consistently championed the interests of the people and urged unity in the Rengma region, which has a single Assembly constituency, to secure a decisive mandate for the NPF.
Former election candidate and Central Executive Council member Ar Loguseng Semp welcomed the decision of the Rising People's Party (RPP) to merge with the NPF, saying the move placed collective welfare above personal interests. He called for accommodative efforts to strengthen party unity with the objective of forming an NPF government.
Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC) Chairman Kvulo Lorin highlighted Chief Minister and NPF president Neiphiu Rio's vision of uniting all contending political groups and urged party workers to support that vision.
Short speeches were also delivered by Farmers Wing General Secretary Hyusin Thyug, Women's Wing President Khwenhile Kent, Youth Wing President Sokenye Kent, Tseminyu Town Council Chairperson Ruth Thong and Tseminyu Division Working President Ndotsu Kent.
The meeting also featured a special song by Lydia Khing and an interactive discussion chaired by Benjamin Lorin.
The Resolution Committee, headed by convenor Satilo Kent, presented resolutions that were unanimously adopted by the house.
The meeting reiterated the demand for an early, honourable, acceptable and inclusive solution to the Naga political issue and endorsed the leadership of party president and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Secretary General Achumbemo Kikon for their efforts towards the state's development, particularly in Tseminyu district.
The house also resolved that party members violating the party constitution, especially on election-related matters or important party decisions, would face disciplinary action.
It further resolved that no individual or party leader should offer or promise party tickets for the next Assembly election, stating that ticket allocation would be decided only through consensus. Any unauthorised assurances, whether public or private, would invite strict disciplinary action.
