Peace Channel, NEISSR welcome bus service
In a separate press release, Peace Channel and the North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) has welcomed the NST Department, Government of Nagaland, for responding positively to their appeal for public bus connectivity between Niuland and Dimapur.
The initiative emerged from Peace Channel’s direct engagement with children and young people, through which the organisations became aware of the transportation difficulties faced by schoolchildren travelling to Dimapur for education and training programmes, it stated.
The absence of accessible and affordable public transportation had created practical barriers for children seeking educational opportunities and participating in peacebuilding initiatives. Recognizing that reliable transportation is essential for equitable access to education and youth development, Peace Channel and NEISSR appealed to the NST Department for the introduction of bus services connecting Niuland with Dimapur, vide an appeal press release dated December 9, 2025.
The appeal, supported by Peace Club members of Peace Channel, public leaders and community representatives, highlighted the need for transportation that responds to the everyday challenges faced by students and families.
Peace Channel and NEISSR believe that regular and affordable NST bus services can significantly improve mobility between Niuland and Dimapur, ease the financial and logistical burden on families and enable children and young people to access educational institutions, training programmes and other developmental opportunities more conveniently.
The organisations reaffirmed their commitment to working collaboratively with the Government, children, youth, public institutions, community leaders and local communities to advance child welfare, peace education and inclusive development across Nagaland.
