PATKAI, August 28 (MExN): The 45th foundation day of Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) was celebrated in the college campus on August 28.


A press release issued by the College stated that acknowledging the land donors of Chümoukedima and Seithekema for the 1000 acres land where PCC is established, principal PCC Husazu Epao lauded the act of land gift deed signed between the donors and the college authorities way back in 1974.


Emphasizing on the roles of the land donors of the two villages, Epao stressed on active participation from the villages during occasion like the foundation day that commemorates the journey of the college.


The land gift deed was done in a customary way 45 years back and the moment was relived today at the function with Prof. Talitsuba Alinger, the longest serving BOT member presented a rooster and a kg salt to the village seniors of Chümoukedima and Seithekema. 


Calling upon the students, faculties and staffs, Epao urged all to strive and perform better to achieve academic excellence adding that spiritual excellence also need to be given equal importance. Stating that Patkai is known across the border being the first autonomous college in the Northeast, Epao exhorted all to put in concerted efforts to reach the zenith in coming days.


Underscoring the importance of commitment and conviction in the growth of Patkai, the principal also said that the vision of the college is to create a value based education to make its students cope up with the education system anywhere across the globe. General Secretary, Nagaland Baptist Church Council, Rev. Dr. Kethozelhou Keyho attending the function as the speaker urged the students to put efforts in discovering their identity and have a purpose in relation with god.  He stressed on students to master one’s life by learning to discern things that blinds one.


The highlight of the programme was the felicitation of the semester toppers of all the disciplines under various undergraduate and post graduate courses.  Chairman, BOT, PCC, Rev. Dr. W Ponsing gave away the certificates with cash prizes to all the subject toppers.


On the day, a peer reviewed journal of the college titled ‘Patkai’ was released by the founder principal Rev. Dr. Tuisem A Shishak. Musical performance by the students of Margaret Shishak School of Music added to the vibrancy of the occasion.


A documentary titled, ‘A journey of a Hero-Patkai (Then & Now)’ screened by the Department of Mass Communication, PCC marked the foundation day.
