Kohima, June 13 (MExN): The Phek District Badminton Association (PDBA) conducted a one day veteran badminton tournament- cum- get together of Phek district veteran players on June 12 last at Kohima.
In the under 45 years and above category, the duo of Rothihu and Rhuvisie emerged champions, while Lhiwepelo Ritse and Wekhape were runners-up. In the below 45 years category, Deko Chiero and Wepe Kronu were the champions while Ashu Theyo and Cuzota grabbed the runners-up spot.
Minister for Planning & Coordination and Land Revenue, Neiba Kronu and MLA Yitachu also reached the semi finals. MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu and Dr. Chotisuh Sazo also joined the tournament and encouraged the players.
Altogether, 41 veterans participated in the tournament.
Meanwhile, PDBA will be hosting the 42nd Nagaland Inter-District Badminton Tournament and Open Championship 2018 at Pfutsero.
PDBA informed its members that team selection would be conducted on June 16 at Pfutsero from 10:00 AM.
