Pia had premonition about shocking exit

Everyone is shocked about the unlikely elimination of Pia Toscano on Thursday night’s American Idol. The voting system has always come into question regarding the way American Idol chooses its latest victims. However, last night when Pia was announced as the fifth girl in just as many weeks to be voted off, the judges sobbed, the audience booed and questions of who, what and why were asked.
Pia talked to the media Friday morning about her feelings of being eliminated, as well as about the breaking news of how a medic had to escort her off stage. "The night before I had a weird feeling in my stomach,” said Pia. “I said to my parents 'I kind of feel I'm going to be in the bottom three.' I kind of, like, expected it. I have a lot of premonitions … it kind of prepared me."
After the shocking conclusion, Life & Style reports that Pia was in need of a medic to escort her off stage. “I was getting very lightheaded,” Pia told Life & Style. “To be in the position I was in last night was a bit much, and a little overwhelming.” Pia also mentioned to the magazine that is was very hard for her to get through the last song. “I was trying to take deep breaths, and it wasn’t working out,” Pia explained.
Speaking to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this morning, American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez seemed to take the news just as emotionally as Pia. "She was one of the most talented singers we had," said Lopez. "Honestly, I don't know what happened. [Maybe] people thought she was safe, as I did... Maybe there was something that wasn't connecting [with the audience] that we didn't see."
Pia doesn’t blame the judges or the audience for her departure. “It’s nobody’s fault,” said Pia. “The judges were absolutely right, I needed to change it up… I was really excited for this performance.” Although the judges have frowned upon singers attempting songs by Mariah, Whitney and Celine, Pia went for it and proved she had what it took to compete with the best.
“I like to challenge myself and I like to take risks,” Pia said. “Those are singers I have grown up to listening to, so I just tried my best.” So what does Pia hope to gain from her early exit on Idol? “Moving forward, I would definitely go in the pop genre with an R&B influence,” Pia said. “I definitely want to have those big power ballads as well… So many doors are going to open for me, they already have. I’m just looking forward to going on tour with the other contestants. It’s going to be great; I’m excited to see what the future holds.”
