Kohima, September 28 (MExN): The Southern Angami Youth Organisation (SAYO) notifies all concerned that, with effect from 1st October, it will be mandatory for all trekkers visiting Dzükou Valley to be guided by SAYO registered tour guides.
Furthermore, no trekking shall be allowed beyond 3:00 PM either to Dzükou Valley or from Dzükou Valley.
This decision has been necessitated due to the increasing number of incidents where trekkers, without guides have lost their way or got stranded along the trail.
On multiple occasions, SAYO volunteers have had to carry out rescue operations late at night or in the early morning incurring considerable expense and risk, according to a release issued by SAYO president Zasitsolie Beio and general secretary Keneisel Tetso.
To ensure the safety of trekkers and to prevent further unwarranted incidents , SAYO informed that all trekkers must engage the services of a local guide before entering Dzükou Valley.
Trekking after 3:00 PM shall be strictly prohibited.
Defaulters will be penalized as per Rules and SAYO will not be liable to any risk incurred.
Meanwhile, SAYO urged all visitors to cooperate with these directives for their own safety and for the preservation of Dzükou Valley.
