SBI Mokokchung Main Branch celebrates Golden Jubilee

State Bank of India, Mokokchung Main Branch, the oldest bank in Mokokchung region celebrated its Golden Jubilee here on July 18 attended by a host of SBI officials and functionaries, invitees and customers. The bank is the third oldest in Nagaland and is currently serving more than thirty-one thousand customers.


According to Debashish Mitra, DGM SBI Administrative Office, Jorhat, the Mokokchung Main Branch will be transformed into a “model bank” which he said will become the “best bank” in Nagaland and “one of the best” in the NE India region. He said this while elucidating on the topic “SBI Mokokchung Beyond 50” during the celebration.


The golden jubilee was celebrated with Sunil Tandon, Chief General Manager, SBI North East Circle as the chief host. Tandon while delivering his address said that there are 36 SBI branches under Mokokchung region covering at least 6 districts of the state and that the SBI Mokokchung Main Branch was the oldest, established in the year 1969. He said that SBI has always been instrumental in economic development of the country and that it has always impacted lives wherever it went. While thanking the civilian population and the customers for their patronage, he also expressed gratitude to the civil administration for their support.


“We are there to be your partners and we are dedicated to the development of the state and the region,” he added. While requesting the people present to spread the message to avail the various life insurance and social security schemes offered by SBI, Tandon also sought the continued support and blessings of the people and assured that SBI would strive to provide the best of service to the customers. Earlier, before addressing the gathering, Tandon formally unveiled the Jubilee Souvenir magazine.


Jubilee greetings were offered by Rajesh Soundararajan, DC Mokokchung; Imtipokyim, General Secretary, Ao Senden; and Sunep Kichu on behalf of the Kichu Clan Mokokchung Village. Two customers were invited to deliver “voluntary speech” as part of the celebration today. One of the oldest customers, an 80-year old Semsayangla was also felicitated by the bank to commemorate its jubilee.


Introduction of dignitaries by Temsurenla Jamir, Chief Manager, SBI Mokokchung Main, traditional welcome by Aosungkum Culture Club Mokokchung Village, special number presentation by Yashirenla Jamir, welcome address by H. Hangsing, Regional Manager, SBI Mokokchung Regional, valedictory speech by Moasunep Imchen, Assistant Branch Manager, SBI Mokokchung Main and a thanksgiving benediction by Bendang Jamir, Associate Pastor, MTBA were the other highlights of the event that culminated with a mass feast.
