Sensitization training on metal health

Dimapur, March 30 (MExN): One day sensitization training on mental health for medical officers was held at the conference hall of the chief medical office, Kiphire on March 29. The medical superintendent, deputy chief medical officer, medical officer, MO, DIO, DTO and other medical officers of the district hospital and PHC Kiphire participated in the training.
The training was conducted in four sessions. Addressing the first session Dr. V. Nagi, Psychiatrist and Joint Director, Department of Health and Family Welfare gave an introduction on mental health. He pointed out that it is necessary to incorporate mental health with primary health. He said that it is expected that doctors make assessment with the patients with mental related disorders and prescribe medicines or refer the case to bigger hospitals.
Dr. V. Pienyü Jr. Specialist, Mental Hospital Kohima, conducted the second and third sessions. He talked on “mood disorders” and gave a lecture on Schizophrenia. The last session was again addressed by Dr. Pienyü who talked about ‘psychological care in mental health’. There was discussion time at the end of every session.
Dr. I. Sungit Jamir, CMO Kiphire, earlier welcomed the participants and thanked the the resource persons for conducting the training.
