Should capital punishment be banned on moral and ethical grounds?

Those who said YES had this to say:

•    Yes, Capital punishment opposes the philosophy of Christian values and ethics. There should be no room for capital punishment under any circumstances.

•    Yes, all lives belong to God alone. “Many that live deserve death, and some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.” Gandalf (Lord of the Rings)

•    Yes, capital punishment should be banned completely. What do we get by putting a person to death. It does not solve anything. It is not justice, but revenge. Captail punishment is the cause for believing that revenge is justice. It is wrong.

•    Yes death sentence should be banned totally. No one has the right to take life whatever the gravity of the crime is. Society has no right to sanction death.

•    Yes, death penalty should be banned, but some other measures must be taken so that crimes are not repeated.

•    Yes, it should be banned. Capital punishment is not the way to prove justice. There is nothing civil about capital punishment. It is a feudal practice and in this civil world, there should be no room for capital punishment.

•    Yes. No one has the power to create life, therefore, no one has the right to eliminate life either. “Live and let live.” There are 101 others ways to punish the guilty.

Those who said NO had this to say:

•    No, not or moral or ethical ground! But capital punishment must be banned because “life” is God’s prerogative! God is the one who gives life and human beings have no right to take the life of another no matter how evil he/she may be!
