SJU Botany Dept conducts training

Chümoukedima, February 13 (MExN): The Department of Botany at St Joseph University (SJU), conducted a one-day hands-on training on “Recent Technological Developments in the Cultivation and Commercialisation of Edible Mushrooms” in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) on February 12.According to an SJU release, the programme was divided into a technical lecture session and a hands-on training session.

The second session consisted of hands-on training on mushroom cultivation demonstrated by Dr K Kumar, Assistant Professor of the Department of Botany, assisted by Dr Amarnath Pandian, a Professor in the department.

The participants were trained in the preparation of spawn and mushroom bed preparation for cultivating oyster mushrooms. Students and faculty from various departments took an active participation in the programme, added the SJU release.
