The Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland today organized a workshop on Statistical Activities of various departments under Support for Statistical Strengthening (SSS) 2021-2022 here in the presence of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Evaluation And Economics & Statistics, Advisor L Khumo.
Addressing the workshop, Khumo said that the state government has declared Economics & Statistics department as the nodal agency for developing an efficient statistical system in the state.
In this, Khumo said that the deputed officers in the line departments should be smarter, sincere and regular to office.
“The officer deputed in the line department must cover all the required data, verify and authenticate the data before sending to the department,” said Khumo. He also stressed on the need to highlight the status of the state economy and the impact of various schemes being implemented in the state.
Also stating that Nagaland Statistical Handbook under the publication of Economics & Statistics department is the mirror of the state, the advisor said that the same should not be taken for granted.
“The deputed officers should be very sincere, active and informed to reflect the status of the state Nagaland,” he said and urged them to submit the statistical data on regular basis.
Neidilhou Angami, Additional Director & HoD, Economic & Statistics, Nagaland said that the workshop aim to understand the nature and scope of statistics in the line department and also to evaluate the performance of the statistical staff posted in various line departments. At present, he said, the department has set up statistical staff in 34 line department with a total strength of 124.
Joint Director Charles N Kikon talked on notification of guidelines on statistical cells, followed by presentation by line departments and interaction. Seno Resu, Deputy Secretary present at the workshop as observer. Earlier, the inaugural function was chaired by Deputy Director Theyieneinuo Belho while vote of thanks was proposed by Nyushotho Nyuthe, ESO.
