NSCN (IM) Konyak Region upholds Framework Agreement
Dimapur, April 16 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) Konyak Region today made a declaration to stand by the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015.
The CAO Konyak Region, Phuae Konyak in a press release said that in the presence of Collective Leadership member, Alam Wangshu, the declaration was made during the NSCN (IM) Konyak Region, general meeting held at Region Treasury, 5th Mile, Dimapur on April 16.
The meeting was attended by all the civil authority and region members and the high ranking military officers from Major and above.
The CAO stated that during the meeting, speech from NSCN (IM), Vice President, Tongmeth Wangnao was conveyed to the house.
Wangnao in his speech stressed that from the beginning of the Naga National movement and till date we (Nagas) have achieved four very important landmarks in the Naga History among many events and occasions- ‘Naga Independence declaration of 1947, Nagas’ Plebiscite of 1951, Official recognition of the Uniqueness of Naga History in 2002, and Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015.’
It said that the Framework Agreement was witnessed and signed by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi at his residential office in the presence of Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, Chief of Army staff, and head of various departments and dignitaries present at the ceremony.
“It was not a closed door ceremony but rather live telecast and aired in the news channel and various media for the world to witness the ceremony. Since the very agreement itself is historic in nature, honorable, acceptable and lasting solution is a must and need of the hour,” Wangnao said with asserting, “Time is not real factor for solution but the issue is.”
The meeting was chaired by CAO Konyak Region Phuae Konyak, Deputy Kilonser and Session secretary Mandao Konyak with invocation by Lemba Konyak welcome addressed by Sangti, Kilonser, Convener Core Committee, Konyak Region.
Obituary report and a mass silent prayer were also observed.
The meeting concluded with vote of thanks by Akhah Konyak, Executive Member, Steering Committee and benediction by Lieut Col Wangchun Konyak.
