ToT training prog concludes in Ghy

‘Greed-free economics for building peace’   Guwahati, September 23 (MExN): The Training of Trainers (ToT) on ‘Youth and Peace Building’ for National Service Scheme (NSS) Programme Officers organised by the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) at the NIRD North Eastern Regional Centre, Guwahati concluded on September 23. The training had started on September 19.   A press release received here informed that Prof. Dr. M.M. Goel, Director RGNIYD delivered the valedictory address. The release said that the director underscored the “correlation between peace and performance of any economy.” “For building peace, we have to adopt non-violence in economics as Needonomics (economics of needs), to be treated as spiritual economics, and no to Greedonomics which is major cause of violence, corruption, terrorism and exploitation of all kinds,” said Prof. Goel.   “Peace in every head and heart (consumer, producer, distributor and trader) is necessary and sufficient to say no to stress, tensions and fear caused by spiritual bankruptcy and commercialization,” he added.   We need to make Indian youth SMART and SIMPLE in the strict sense to be relevant for peace building, opined Professor Goel. He held that there is a strong case “for marrying spirituality with materialism” as propagated by the Epics, including the Bhagvad Gita, which he said, “is an ism neutral religion free treatise on welfare economics and management.”   For moulding the youth as peace builders, he said, “We have to adopt long-term approach by mobilising their capacities, energy, capabilities, and ability of adaptation to new technological trends.”
