Kohima, August 19 (MExN): As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative for FY 2026-27, UCO Bank, Kohima Branch, handed over scooties to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Kohima, on August 19.
The scooties were formally handed over in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Kohima B. Henok Buchem, NCS, Resources Head, UCO Jorhat Headquarters, Acharya Sonowal, and officials of the District Administration and UCO Bank at the DC’s Office chamber.
Speaking on the occasion, Buchem expressed gratitude to UCO Bank for the CSR initiative, describing it as a first-of-its-kind contribution to the office in terms of providing movable assets of direct utility.
The Deputy Commissioner acknowledged the efforts of the UCO Bank team in responding to the office’s requirement and said the contribution would facilitate administrative and public service delivery, particularly field-related duties.
Buchem expressed hope that the initiative would mark the beginning of a long-term partnership between the district administration and UCO Bank. He encouraged the bank to continue supporting the district wherever possible and said the initiative could inspire other banks in other districts to undertake similar CSR activities for public benefit.
UCO Bank Kohima Branch Head Timothy said UCO Bank, headquartered in Kolkata, has a presence across multiple states and operates nine branches in Nagaland, including two in Kohima.
He said the bank is among the leading banks in the state in terms of business presence and remains committed to expanding financial inclusion, particularly at the grassroots level.
Timothy said the bank’s CSR initiatives are guided by key pillars including community upliftment, financial inclusion, environmental sustainability and rural development. He added that 2 per cent of the average net profit of the last three years is allocated towards such activities.
He expressed hope that the partnership with the district administration would continue to grow stronger and contribute meaningfully to public welfare and development in the district.
