Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) a UGC conferred ‘College with potential for excellence’ has once again been granted the extension of autonomous status by the ‘Standing Committee’ constituted by University Grants Commission. “The decision was made after a meeting of the committee held on September 25 last,” informed a press release issued by Patkai Christian College.


Earlier, a five-member peer team of UGC for ‘Autonomy Extension’ had visited PCC on July 26 last. On the basis of the assessment of the infrastructural-financial-human resources, teaching-learning processes, adaptation of upgraded technologies, teaching-research and the progress from the last autonomy granted to the college, the decision to extend the autonomous status to the college was taken. 


The peer team comprised of vice chancellor, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Prof. Suranjan Das, Swami Kamalasthananda, Ramakrishna M.V.C College, Kolkata, addl. Director, Higher Education, Nagaland, Dr. Watijungshi, Plant Pathology, SASRD, Nagaland University, Dr. Tiameren and educational officer, UGC-NERO, Guwahati, Dr. Nikhil Kumar.


It must be noted here that Patkai Christian College is the first autonomous college in the North East. It is reaccredited ‘A’ Grade with CGPA of 3.24 by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
