Guwahati, October 10 (MExN): The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on October 9 commenced its two-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ in Guwahati, marking the first time the high-level deliberation is being held in the Northeast.
The session was chaired by UIDAI Chief Executive Officer Saurabh Vijay, an IAS officer, and brought together senior management, policymakers and field operational teams from the authority’s headquarters in New Delhi and regional offices across the country.
The conclave aims to align institutional goals, review operational frameworks and address emerging technological challenges in the identity ecosystem.
Key issues discussed included expanding coverage of Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBU), encouraging the use of the Aadhaar App for instant verification, strengthening Aadhaar-enabled Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under various schemes through wider adoption of Aadhaar authentication, and accelerating the digitisation of documents that are yet to be digitised.
The deliberations also focused on improving the accessibility of Aadhaar services.
The event featured interactive sessions with industry experts on emerging cyber threats, the security of digital identity infrastructure and measures to strengthen fraud prevention.
Participants also discussed legal and compliance issues and the broader implications of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.
By hosting the event in Guwahati, UIDAI reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its presence and operational efficiency in the Northeast and ensuring wider access to secure digital governance, in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
