Maligaon, October 21 (MExN): The Vande Bharat Express in the Northeast has registered exceptional occupancy rates from the originating station as well as at enroute stations since its inauguration.
Train no. 22227/22228 (New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri) Vande Bharat Express connecting New Jalpaiguri with the Gateway to the Northeast, Guwahati, has reduced the average travel time of passengers of both the directions by nearly one and half hour. Welcomed by traders and businessmen apart from various sections of people around New Cooch Behar, New Alipurduar, Kokrajhar and New Bongaigaon, the service is registering good patronage since its introduction.
In the Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri route, people prefer Vande Bharat rather than traveling by road as Vande Bharat train from Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri takes 5 and half hours whereas road journey takes around 10 hours, Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR stated in a press release.
Commuters of the Vande Bharat trains can enjoy the meals served onboard. The New Jalpaiguri-Guwahati Vande Bharat departs from New Jalpaiguri early in the morning at 06:10. “Passengers especially housewives need not to worry about having food being prepared at home, as breakfast are served in the train as soon as the journey starts,” it stated.
Among all passengers travelling in between Guwahati-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat, youngsters (Male, female) in the age bracket 25-34 years, on average 27.21% passengers belong to this age group. Similarly, in the age bracket between 35-49 years, on average 33.03% passengers prefer Vande Bharat express above others mode of transportation. This age group has become the highest among all age group passengers who travel in this Vande Bharat route.
The Senior Citizens (60+ age group) has also shown their likeness for Vande Bharat Express for its comfort and speed. Among all passengers, on an average 7.91% passengers belong to this age group, it added.
