Kohima | April 10 : Under the wind energy programme the wind assessment for the entire country is done by the Centre for Wind Energy Technology (C-WET), Chennai, Tamil Nadu, a central government undertaking. During 2008-09, the ministry has directed the C- WET to put up the wind mast at three locations for wind energy assessment. The wind assessment and monitoring stations have been installed at Thizama, Kikruma and Pfutsero at a height of 50 metres.
This was stated in the annual administrative report of the department of new and renewable energy presented in the just concluded assembly session presented by advisor Deo Nukhu. This monitoring and reporting will be carried out till April 2011 after which C-WET will submit a detailed report to the state government on the available wind resources for power generation. MNRE has sanctioned Rs. 3.90 lakhs, the report said.
