Wokha, December 9 (MExN): The Air Gun Sporting Association of Nagaland (ASAN) organized the first winter open air gun shooting competition and launching of ASAN website done at Likya Community Hall, Wokha on December 9.

District Forest Officer, Wokha, Suman WM Sivachar, IFS, DFO Wokha, who was the special guest  in his speech  congratulated the ASAN for selecting Wokha as its headquarter and for organizing the competition and said that Naga youth have the capacity to achieving anything when they focus  their mind. The DFO also launched the ASAN website during the occasion.

SP Wokha, Menang Meren Ao, as the guest of honour, expressed his happiness to see many participants from different districts and expressed his optimism that shooters will not only make a mark here alone but will also excel even to the higher arena.

The officials and participants wore black armbands in solidarity with the victims of the Oting shooting in Mon, while a two minutes silent prayer was also observed.

43 contestants from different districts of Nagaland participated in the event. Ayamo L Khuvung was declared the winner and received a certificate and cash prize of Rs 20,000 while M Nyanbemo Odyuo and Bankathung claimed the first and the second runners-up spots receiving certificates and cash prizes of Rs 15,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively. Consolation prizes and certificates were awarded to seven quarter finalist. Mhademo Ngullie was picked as the winner of a raffle draw during the programme.

The event was chaired by Ajit John, founding member, ASAN. President Ajamo Odyou delivered the welcome address and formation of ASAN was delivered by Manenkaba Air. The dedication of ASAN was done by Rev Abemo Jungio, Pastor, Wokha Town Baptist Church.
