WSBAK ordains 70 people; 18 women given 'Ministry License'

Dimapur, December 19 (MExN): The Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu (WSBAK) has ordained 70 people, including women, “marking it as a historic event in the entire North East India.”

The ordination ceremony took place at Thilixu Village Baptist Church on December 19 in the presence of Rev. Dr. Khehovi Shohe, Director, Sümi Baptist Convention and Rev. Dr. Hevukhu Achumi, Executive Secretary, WSBAK along with Ordained Ministers under WSBAK and host of family members and church members.

The Ordination Board of WSBAK had decided to ordain the selected candidates keeping in mind the vastness of its Association, according to a press release from WSBAK Executive Secretary, Rev. Dr. Hevukhu Achumi.

One of the main reasons to ordain many candidates was the difficulties faced by the pastors who have to enlist others to conduct communion and baptism, it stated. Therefore, with the motive of having at least one ordained minister in every church, the ordination was held.

15 candidates were given full ordination (reverend) while the rest were given ‘Ministry License,’ which included 18 women, the release added.

This is the second time that WSBAK has given women license. Earlier, it had issued Ministry License to two women, it was informed.

The WSBAK Executive Secretary has encouraged the candidates to remain humble and re-equip themselves for the ministry ahead of them.
