Expanding its humanitarian services beyond helping children living with cancer and conservation of flora and fauna, SpeakGuru Foundation is venturing into launching ‘MonAram Personal Accident Plan’ for people across Nagaland where they can avail medical treatment up to Rs 5000 at the empanelled clinics and hospitals by just signing up for a healthcare package of Rs 500 for a year.

Under the tagline- ‘Your MonAram is our MonKhushi’ MonAram is a social impact initiative of SpeakGuru Foundation to provide basic healthcare protection to everyone in Nagaland. Speaking to The Morung Express in an exclusive interview, Founder of SpeakGuru Foundation, Kenei Kuotsu said, “we want to connect people to hospitals and private clinics. They can go to any of the empaneled clinics/hospitals, and instantaneously avail medical treatment up to Rs 5000 without paying cash.”

“Anybody can buy the healthcare plan for Rs.500 for a year,” he said while adding that “we have been doing this for cancer patients, but it’s time SpeakGuru comes out and serve the wider community.” There’s more to the healthcare plan even as he highlights that in the event of an accidental death, they can avail up to Rs 50,000. “We can’t do anything about a death but at least this amount can help with funeral expenses,” he expressed.

The other thing covered in the plan is in the event of a dental accident, where they can receive dental treatment for up to Rs 2000 without paying cash. In this regard, MonAram has tied up with a dental clinic in Kohima to start with while other hospitals and clinics are also currently being identified in places like Dimapur and Mokokchung. “We want to start with trusted hospitals/clinics initially”, he added.

Insurance concept is not there in the state, Kuotsu maintained but he is also quick to clarify that MonAram is NOT an insurance company. “It is a social impact initiative of SpeakGuru, and in doing this, we are only helping each other”, he explained. Emphasizing that pooling is so important so we can help each and every one, he further added that, “one day something happens to you, we are going to take out money from this pool for your treatment.”

MonAram will be formally launched in January next year and the affordable healthcare packages can be availed through an App that is currently being developed. Once people download the App, he informed, “they will see the list of hospitals/clinics empaneled with MonAram. It’s a very light App, we don’t want to complicate it and they can get an e-medical card for the cashless treatment.”

“We also have an QR Code, and if you scan on it, there’s an Interest Form (Interest form (google.com). Right now, we also want to see how many people will be interested in the healthcare package,” he highlighted. MonAram is further engaging Dreamz Unlimited for a short video.

Earlier, MonAram made it to the Top 3 for the first edition of Hackathon, that was organised by StartUp Nagaland in partnership with the Department of Industries and commerce, and Educentre School of Business.

As ambassadors of MonAram, Thejakielie Zuyie and Verakholu Veyie, who recently scaled the Base Camp of the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest for charity, were also covered under the MonAram Healthcare package.
