18 aspiring beauty queens vied for the Miss Dimapur 2017 crown this evening (October 27) at IMC Hall, Dimapur. Introducing themselves along with short messages on the pageant theme, “Make Voting a Fashion Statement”, the contestants endorsed and encouraged Naga people to practice a clean and fair election system in the forthcoming elections. Organized by The Ethnic Group of Nagaland (EGoN), the official organizers of the Miss Dimapur pageant, after the initial screening a month-long training was held on grooming, soft skills, clean election, fitness competitions, photo shoots, and catwalk training.
After several rounds of Ethnic Wear, Cocktail Round, Designer Round, and Q and A sessions with the judges, Contestant number 6 Epibeni ultimately won the title. She was crowned by outgoing Miss Dimapur 2016 winner Shenili Chishi. The first Runner Up title was won by Contestant Number 15 Ravinu Lama and 2nd Runner Up by Contestant Number 2 Zhimoholi. For the ceremony, contestants wore creations by Sushma Gurung.
Apart from the crowning of Miss Dimapur 2017, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up, the Miss Dimapur 2017 pageant also witnessed the crowning of various sub-titles such as: Miss Photogenic, Miss Catwalk, Miss Congeniality, Style Icon 2017, EGoN Fitness Icon, EGoN Fresh Face, Best Ethnic Wear, Miss Body Beautiful and Miss Beautiful Skin.
Upcoming artist like Naro Sangtam-Voice of Nagaland (2015) finalist, Muno Shiu, a young upcoming solo artist from Dimapur, Pedro’s Dance Studio- specialized in classical Jazz, contemporary hip hop, etc performed at the grand finale.
