Kohima, January 22 (MExN): The Department of Industries & Commerce in collaboration with start-up India, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department for promotion of Industries & Internal Trade (DPIIT) GoI, commenced a two-day workshop on ‘Women Capacity Development’ from January 22 at SIRD Conference Hall, Kohima.


A DIPR report stated that the programme aims to identify and support aspiring and established female entrepreneurs in their start up journey. This workshop seeks to provide a platform for emerging women entrepreneurs and other stake holders to discuss the key challenges facing women entrepreneurs. It will create conducive environment to share best practices and experiences in overcoming challenges in the region and to gain insights. 


The scheme will be covering business from technology, construction, products, machine, food, agriculture, education or events. 


Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy in his keynote address stated that the world is changing and unless we keep pace with the changes that are happening in the world, very soon it will be useless and irrelevant.


Toy mentioned that information technology has reached our doorsteps which is a huge advantage and the Nagas are equally accessible to all information with the rest of the world, It is upto the individual on how to make use of this technology- relevant or useless, he stated and appealed to the entrepreneurs to take advantage of the workshop.  


Apprising the students that at the end of the day, it is hard work and perseverance that pave the way to success, he therefore called upon the students to ignite their minds by seeing and hearing the success stories of the entrepreneurs.


Toy also mentioned that though it is a small start-up for women entrepreneurs, Naga women in the near future can take the lead making themselves known to the society and to the world.


Principal Secretary, Department of Industries& Commerce, Lithrongla G. Chishi, IAS, in her opening remark said the workshop is an opportunity for entrepreneurs who have chosen to pursue their passion. She noted that through this workshop, women entrepreneurs will take a leap forward and achieve great success.


Chishi further mentioned that we all know about business but most of all hardly know about great entrepreneurship, commitment level and how to go about it, so these workshop is a great advantage  to learn, understand and make entrepreneurship grow and make a difference not only  in Nagaland but also outside too. She added that, there are lots of challenges but will be able to get through it and take forward the young entrepreneurs who are passionate about their business.


The highlights of the programme included  Basic & Advanced workshop session, where it stressed on Legal and compliance; speed mentoring with Legal and Compliance expert; IP & Patent protection; speed mentoring with IP& Patent experts; Financial Management and Marketing strategy. Experiences of a Naga Women entrepreneur was shared by Jesmina Zeliang, entrepreneur and presentation on IPR by Gihukali Chishi, Technical Assistant, NASTEC, Department of Science& Technology.
