Urges to verify employers before relocating

Dimapur, October 9 (MExN): The Ao Kaketshir Telungjem Bengaluru (AKTB) has cautioned Ao people planning to relocate to the city about “the increasing instances of fraudulent companies, employment-related scams, and misconduct targeting individuals seeking employment opportunities in the city.”

AKTB President A Sentisenla Imsong and General Secretary Yimoakok Longkumer in a statement, urged everyone to thoroughly verify the credentials, legitimacy and background of any company or organisation before accepting a job offer or making travel arrangements to Bengaluru.

Under the AKTB Constitution, students and working professionals aged 34 years and below fall under its jurisdiction, the union said. All eligible Ao individuals moving to the city have been encouraged to register with the union as soon as they arrive. Registration will enable the AKTB office to stay in contact with them and provide guidance, support and assistance whenever necessary, it said.

The union added that its ability to help would be limited in cases where individuals have not registered.

It asked everyone to remain vigilant, exercise sound judgement and take all necessary precautions against fraud, exploitation or other misconduct. “Your safety and well-being are of utmost importance to us,” the AKTB added.
