Alempang Baptist Church, Mokokchung Town celebrated its Silver Jubilee on January 11-12, 2017 under the theme ‘Rangben Nüji’ (Holistic Being) at the church premises. After existing as a ‘Fellowship’ since its inception under Mokokchung Town Baptist Church in1969, Alempang Baptist Church was declared an ‘independent’ church under ABAM on January 12, 1992.
The main service of the Jubilee celebrations was held today with the Pastor of Alempang Baptist Church as the main speaker who spoke on the Jubilee theme. The Jubilee souvenir and the Jubilee commemorative album were also released as part of the service by Rev. Dr. Mar Pongen, Principal, Clark Theological College. Other highlights of the programme included a short message by Rev. Luen, a special number by Women Ministry of Alempang Baptist Church, reminiscence speech by the church’s first pastor Rev.Sübong Aier, a special prayer by Rev. I.Lanu Jamir, Nagaland Missionary Movement, felicitation of former and present staff of Alempang Baptist Church, presentation of Jubilee theme song by the Jubilee choir, followed by a mass jubilee feast.
The valedictory service of the Jubilee was held in the evening with Toshi Aier, Lecturer, Clark Theological College as the speaker. Among other activities, the valedictory service also witnessed a Holy Communion followed by a closing ceremony by Youth Ministry, ABC.
Earlier last evening, the Silver Jubilee opening service was held with Rev.Ponen Longchar, Pastor MTBA as the speaker followed by a ‘Jubilee Pageant’ presented by Alempang Youth Association.
