Avizo Lanamai of Combat Academy Dimapur share his experience at Matrix Fight Night

After having competed in the Matrix Fight Night in Dubai, the premier mix-martial arts promoter in South Asia owned and operated by Tiger Shroff, Ayesha Shroff and Alan Fenandes, one Nagaland’s representative, Avizo Lanamai share his experience after having won his bout over Dushyant on Novmber 18.   

“It was really good and was very a different experience compared to amateur competitions,” he said during the interaction with media persons at Combat Academy, Dimapur on November 26. This was his second time fighting in a professional match, the first being at Delhi. He competed in the 65 KG category, feather-weight while Arenseba Ozukum was in the 57 KG category, flight weight. Unfortunately Ozukum was present at the time of the interview as he was undergoing surgery for sustaining injuries during his bout with Dinesh Noarem. 

“My opponent was changed at the last moment,” Lanamai added. He had trained for over 2 and a half months for the competition. Khriemelie Metha, Head Coach who was also present during the interaction mentioned that both the two fighters are working-paid professionals now. All the flight tickets, hotel lodging and medical expenses were paid by the promoters he said. This was in line with the academy’s aim of creating an ecosystem around martial arts where the athletes can follow their passion, train and get financially rewarded.  “I’m very proud that Avizo and Arenseba have been able to reach that point where they are now working professionals,” he stated. In regard to the next fight, Metha said that it will probably likely happen between February to March.
