Chümoukedima, January 8 (MExN): NCC cadets attending the 10 day Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) at St Joseph University, Chümoukedima attended a demonstration on the capabilities of the Nagaland State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) and the Fire and Emergency Services departments of Nagaland government.

The SDRF team, headed by SI Viboto H Sumi, explained types of disasters and mitigation techniques including rescue, First Aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and carriage of casualties, stated a press release issued by PRO & Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland and Southern Arunachal Pradesh.

The NFES team headed by Inspector Kent introduced the cadets to types of fire, fire extinguishers and firefighting techniques. The demonstration on drowsing domestic fire from a LPG cylinder and the fire hydrant caught the rapt attention of the cadets.
The event was followed by lectures on Prevention of HIV & AIDS and Drug Abuse by Bendang and ShriJongpong of Kripa Foundation, an NGO which has been working on the cause all over India.

Nellayappan B, Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister of Nagaland and Deputy Director of Nagaland School Education Department also visited the Camp and was briefed about the training activities. He witnessed rifle firing by cadets on the Firing Simulator and shared his experiences as an NCC cadet during the interaction with the cadets.
