CM visits Nagaland House fire site in New Delhi

New Delhi, June 23 (MExN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on June 23 visited Nagaland House at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road, New Delhi, where a fire broke out a day earlier, to assess the damage caused by the incident.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers TR Zeliang and Y Patton, Advisor for School Education and SCERT Dr Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, and senior government officials.

Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, Abhijit Sinha, and Joint Resident Commissioner Sharon Longchari briefed the visiting team on the aftermath of the incident and the post-fire management measures being undertaken.

Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, his cabinet colleagues and senior government officials during a meeting held on  June 23 after visiting the fire outbreak site at Nagaland House, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road, New Delhi.

 

According to official release, the fire broke out in Room No. 2 of the main guest house building on the morning of June 22. 

Three guests were present in the building at the time of the incident and were safely evacuated without any injuries. No casualties were reported.

Prompt action by the guest house staff helped prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent areas before personnel from the fire service arrived and brought the situation under control.

Preliminary assessment indicated that the fire may have originated in the vicinity of a split air-conditioning unit located above the sofa in the living room of the affected room, the release added.
