JCF urges strict action on AC copper wire theft in Dimapur

Dimapur, September 12 (MExN): The Joint Council Forum (JCF) has expressed serious concern over the rising incidents of AC copper wire and copper coil thefts reported across various areas, including NST Colony, Churches Colony, Middle Point, Nyamo Lotha Colony, and Khermahal.

Describing the thefts as more than mere property loss, the forum warned that such criminal acts are creating a growing sense of insecurity among residents while causing considerable financial damage to individuals, businesses, and institutions.

Highlighting the possibility of an organized criminal network, the JCF noted that these incidents may involve an extended chain beyond the immediate perpetrators. The forum urged authorities to investigate not only those directly involved in stealing the copper materials but also scrap dealers, intermediaries, and other entities knowingly purchasing, storing, transporting, or facilitating the sale of stolen property.

Emphasizing that public and private property deserve equal protection, the forum asserted that offenders must be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.

The JCF has called upon competent authorities to treat the matter with urgency, intensify enforcement, and take visible action to restore public confidence and ensure the safety and security of properties across the affected areas.
